The Hanged Man - Book 1 of The Raven-verse Mysteries

Tarot meets small-town secrets — the perfect cozy mystery blend for readers who know magic hides in plain sight.

In the quiet town of Pineridge Hollow, Fiona, owner of The Raven metaphysical shop, spends her days blending custom teas, sourcing crystals, and reading tarot cards. But the peace of the Hollow shatters when her best friend’s son is found dead, eerily echoing the exact tarot card Fiona has been pulling all week.

With the town council desperate to sweep the tragedy under the rug, Fiona refuses to ignore her intuition. Guided by the cards and accompanied by her remarkably sharp cat familiar, Rosie, she sets out to untangle the web of lies churning beneath the town's charming surface.

The cards hold the key. Can Fiona find the truth before the killer deals the final card?

What if your next favorite cozy mystery detective had four paws, a taste for zoomies, and a direct line to the universe? 🐾✨🔮

This was such a fun cozy mystery. I loved the small town setting and the tarot theme. I was hooked on the mystery right away and loved the way the cat was tied into the story. I’m excited to read more mysteries in this series.

really enjoyed this book! It is the perfect mystery to read on a lazy afternoon. The story hooks you right from the very first page without ever feeling too heavy or dark. The characters are well-developed and I particularly enjoyed the clever contributions from Rosie the cat, who adds charm and fun to the story. The pacing is excellent, keeping you hooked all the way through, and the ending was absolutely perfect. If you are looking for a lighthearted, feel-good mystery, this book is a must-read!

I enjoyed my first entry into Raven-Verse. Fiona is a fine protagonist, wise, loyal, and spunky. My favorite character is Rosie, though. People need to pay more attention to her. She was doing everything possible to show them a clue and nobody was paying attention but me! I also really liked Chief Albright and the way he worked with Fiona. Perhaps my favorite part of the story was The Raven itself. To me metaphysical stores are like a balm to the soul. I could picture this comforting space and see myself spending much time there. Indeed, Fiona's shop is a character unto itself.

The author Jane Brookwood does a wonderful job capturing the behaviour and big personalities

of cats (from the cat's perspective!) She captures the whimsy and magic of these wonderful creatures purrfectly. An easy read that highlights the magic in those fleeting connections we make as we travel through life. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
